Hearing tests (audiogram)
A range of hearing assessments are available. Full diagnostic hearing assessment includes hearing function testing (audiometry) and assessment of the ear drum and middle ear (tympanometry). The results are given on the day along with professional advice drawing on many years of audiology experience. We can also offer hearing surveillance/screening, for those exposed to noise levels within the Health and Safety Executives (HSE) range of concern. Any of these tests can be provided as a one-off assessment or as part of a regular hearing and ear health review.
Most hearing assessments are obtained by the use of headphones delivering pure-tone sounds to the ear and allowing the Audiologist to measure the quietest sound (or threshold of hearing) that a person demonstrates. The test rarely takes more than 20-30 minutes. Results will be fully explained and, if requested, a written report containing results, advice and any recommendations can be provided.
